Tomm Roland, percussionist, holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from California State University, Sacramento and a D.M.A. in percussion performance from SUNY Stony Brook. His principal teachers have been Ronald Holloway, Daniel Kennedy, and Raymond DesRoches. He has performed in a variety of musical settings throughout the United States, Europe, India, and Japan.  He was awarded a Fulbright grant to study the classical drumming of Southern India where he studied mridangham and thavil with Sri T.H. Subashchandren and Sri K. Sekar. Tomm has also participated in a variety of music festivals including Music From Bear Valley, The Festival of New American Music, and most recently the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. In addition to sessions for various regional rock and pop projects he has recorded for Summit, Capstone and CRI. Hs most recent recordings are Take Flight by the Omaha Symphony and Rave On: Live at the Drew. Tomm is currently Assistant Professor of Percussion/Multicultural Music at the University of Nebraska, Omaha where he coordinates the percussion program, directs the UNO Percussion Ensemble and teaches courses on world music and rock 'n' roll. Tomm endorses Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and mallets and Mountain Rythym percussion instruments.  In addition to his teaching duties he is on the Nebraska Arts Council Touring Artist roster, and is an active performer and clinician.  Tomm resides in Omaha with his wife Lesley and sons Zachary and Dhani.
